Christian Siriano FW 2012

Christian Siriano’ Fall 2012 collection had an unlikely muse, bats. Christian stated his inspiration came after viewing the 1930’s film “The Vampire Bat”. I would not have connected the correlation of the winged creature and the Siriano collection, but after hearing the direction the connection seemed to make perfect sense. His use of ebony leathers topping off flowing layered gowns seemed to take flight against the runway. The cascading fabrics seemed to elevate the wings of the bats flying in the elusive night sky.

The color palette of noir, wine, platinum and stone flowed effortlessly with each design that hit the runway. Each dress was a showpiece thoughtfully designed to intrigue the night. The silhouettes included mermaid fishtail hemlines with sensational splits offering just enough peek of the leg. The fitted pencil skirts and dresses were vampy in piped leather in geometric patterns. The gothic esthetic was felt in the bourdeux colored lips and slicked hair were paired perfectly to tell The Vampire Bat story. Siriano clearly had the imagination to turn out yet another crowd pleasing collection complete with a standing ovation for the designer.
