Project Runway-Who will win it all?

Project Runway’s season eight has been in no short of twists and turns on the runway. The finale will air Thursday night on Lifetime. The three finalists Mondo, Gretchen, and Andy will duke it out the coveted prize. Michael Costello was eliminated from running on the first half of the finale show and to be honest I am surprised he made it that far. His clothes lacked imagination and I failed to seen innovation in his work. Michael Costello was consistent but not enough in the end to set him apart from the pack.

Mondo

Mondo is clearly everyone’s favorite darling to take home the prize, his clever mix on patterns and play on color palettes. Mondo’s style story is carefree, whimsical but practical to wear in everyday life. Vibrantly neon hued stripes and kisses of plaid, has the world gone mad or just batty for an endearing blend of polka dotted pants?

Gretchen
Gretchen, Gretchen, the girl that no one wanted to make it but did. Why whenever a woman is confident, assertive and knowledgeable she is considered bitchy? Poor Gretchen we probably have her all wrong. Right? OK maybe she is a bitch but all that aside her construction was flawless and her style was consistent no flip flopping here. Her style is Bohemian? Or casual modern? Gretchen’s use of earth tones were on serious overdrive with browns, reds and grays always on heavy rotation. My favorite Gretchen piece was the in first challenge with a billowy asymmetrical skirt and flowing cap sleeve blouse adorned with shimmer. Classic but forward thinking!

Andy

Andy is the underdog in this race, but everyone loves underdog to win it all. Will he get it together and surprise us all with a win? I thought I had his style pegged a strong warrior woman. I had the party store challenge design etched into my memory. The construction of the dress was ambitious but in the end paid off with him winning the challenge. Now looking back over his designs for all the challenges and ponder what story is he trying to tell? His use of modern cuts and intriguing shapes puts him a category alone. Perhaps the challenges stifled his true vision and creativity and he will sing his song in the end.
So will you be watching Lifetime in anticipation to see who will win it all on Project Runway? Thursday at 9pm.
